Regata del Sol al Sol Race to Mexico

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club is again hosting its 456-mile open-ocean race from St. Petersburg to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Boats in the Regata del Sol al Sol race start just off the Pier in downtown St. Petersburg at 10 a.m. April 23. More than 30 boats have registered, including yachts from Rhode Island, Louisiana and Alaska. Boats are expected to start arriving in Mexico on April 26, depending on the winds and currents. The first Isla Mujeres race was organized by the Mexican government in 1969. Last year, the Seraphim out of the Bradenton Yacht Club was the overall winner, with a corrected time finish of 39 hours, 34 minutes, 23 seconds. For information, visit www.regatadelsolalsol.org
